Those lines are almost flip visions of each other (Especially if one ignores the 1990s.) Turns out, at least since 1959, there an inverse correlation between poverty and homicide in the US. Homicide goes up when poverty decreases. Statically significant and everything. Well, that’s awkward.

And what the hell are “mostly minor crimes”?
Two Murders and three cases of Jay Walking can be “mostly minor crimes”.
HYDE PARK — Police now say teens were involved in more serious crimes than egg throwing and fighting when 500 gathered in Hyde Park for Halloween, according to new reports released Tuesday afternoon.
Police reported groups of teens involved in robberies and beatings Monday evening, largely far away from the mass gathering of an estimated 500 teens near 53rd Street and Lake Park Avenue for a social media-fueled “Halloween Purge” of egg throwing, fighting and other mischief.
A 14-year-old girl was arrested for misdemeanor battery at 7 p.m. Monday night on the 4900 block of South Dorchester Avenue for stealing an entire bucket of Halloween candy and hitting a 44-year-old woman in the back of the head when she demanded the teen return the candy, police said.
The woman reported swelling, but denied medical attention, according to police.
The woman’s husband, who asked not to be identified, said two girls stormed onto their porch.
“I don’t know that they were trying to get into the house, but they were headed towards the door with some speed,” the husband said.
He said he blocked the doorway, they stopped short for a second, and then knocked over two kids and grabbed the candy and whatever else they could off their porch and ran off.
He said when his wife ran down from the porch to confront them about taking the candy and when she turned back around, the 14-year-old girl hit her in the back of the head.
He said police showed up “literally instantly” and caught the two girls.
He said his wife is shaken up, but doing OK. He said their 2-year-old seems unfazed, but is worried about how their 9-year-old and 8-year-old friend who were also pushed over will process the incident.
He said the girls were part of a group of 50-70 kids that suddenly showed up on the block, jumping on cars and causing mischief, and then just as quickly left when the police arrived.
“It was like something out of a movie, it was surreal,” the husband said. “All of sudden there was this huge number of kids on the street.”
He said none of the kids came back after the police arrived.
Later in the evening a woman was beaten and robbed by a group of five people.
At 10:30 p.m., the group went up to a woman in the alley on the 1300 block of East 55th Street and punched her and took her cell phone and keys, according to University of Chicago police.
The woman was taken to the emergency room for treatment. Police did not provide information on her condition.
Police did not provide a description of the group, but neighbors said the group was mostly teenagers.
A group of five people again robbed two people at 10:45 p.m. on the 6000 block of South University Avenue taking their cellphones and a pair of glasses, according to university police.
University police said they tracked down the group and arrested two for robbery and recovered the stolen cell phone.
Police said early Tuesday that 10 teens were arrested between 9-10 p.m. on the 5200 block of Lake Park Avenue for mostly minor crimes, including reckless and disorderly conduct.
During the first six months of 2016, migrants committed 142,500 crimes, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office.
Germany took in more than 1.1million migrants in the past year and parts of the country are crippled with a lack of infrastructure.
According to a report by the international policy council the Gatestone Institute, local police in many parts of the country admit that they are stretched to the limit.
The report states: “The rape of a ten-year-old girl in Leipzig, the largest city in Saxony, has drawn renewed attention to the spiralling levels of violent crime perpetrated by migrants in cities and towns across Germany.
“During the first six months of 2016, migrants committed 142,500 crimes, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office. This is equivalent to 780 crimes committed by migrants every day, an increase of nearly 40 per cent over 2015. The data includes only those crimes in which a suspect has been caught.
He said: “They are used to tougher consequences in their home countries.
“They have no respect for us.”
Meanwhile a female police officer has admitted that officers are under attack and that the courts are a “joke.”
In a new book, Tania Kambouri, a German police officer, said: “For weeks, months and years I have noticed that Muslims, mostly young men, do not have even a minimum level of respect for the police.
“When we are out patrolling the streets, we are verbally abused by young Muslims.
“There is the body language, and insults like ‘s*** cop’ when passing by.
“If we make a traffic stop, the aggression increases ever further, this is overwhelmingly the case with migrants.
“It cannot be that offenders continue to fill the police files, hurt us physically, insult us, whatever, and there are no consequences.
“Many cases are closed or offenders are released on probation or whatever.
“Yes, what is happening in the courts today is a joke.”
Migrants committed 208,344 crimes in 2015, according to a confidential police report leaked to Bild.
This figure represents an 80 per cent increase since 2014 and is equivalent to 570 crimes committed by migrants every day, or 23 crimes each hour, in 2015 alone.
The report added: “The growing sense of lawlessness is substantiated by an October 24 YouGov poll which found that 68 per cent of Germans believe that security in the country has deteriorated during the past several years.
“Nearly 70 per cent of respondents said they fear for their lives and property in German train stations and subways, while 63 per cent feel unsafe at large public events.”
Half of the 483 crimes reported were racially motivated, with 58 percent of the attacks targeting African-Americans. Most of those crimes were committed by Latinos, many of them affiliated with gangs, according to the report. Latinos also saw more racially motivated attacks on them in 2015.
“The great majority of African-Americans and Latino/as in Los Angeles County co-exist peacefully and are not involved in ongoing racial conflict,” according to the report. “However, for many years this report has documented that most hate crimes targeting African-Americans are committed by Latino/as and vice versa. This is particularly true in neighborhoods that have undergone rapid demographic shifts from being primarily black to majority Latino/a.”
Crimes motivated by religion climbed by 38 percent, with a significant spike in anti-Muslim incidents, especially after the terror attacks in Paris and San Bernardino. There were 19 crimes against Muslims last year, compared with 3 in 2014.
But anti-Jewish crimes saw a surge from 55 incidents to 70. That could be attributed to continued anti-Israeli sentiment that emerged around the time of Israel’s war with the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip in 2014, said Amanda Susskind, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League’s Los Angeles office.
Let’s look at a few numbers. You haven’t seen them in the New York Times, Atlanta Constitution, or the Miami Herald, nor have they been featured on NBC Nightly news or CNN. So, the average American is blissfully unaware of them.
Between 2008 and 2014, 40% of all murder convictions in Florida were criminal aliens. In New York it was 34% and Arizona 17.8%.
During those years, criminal aliens accounted for 38% of all murder convictions in the five states of California, Texas, Arizona, Florida and New York, while illegal aliens constitute only 5.6% of the total population in those states.
That 38% represents 7,085 murders out of the total of 18,643.
That 5.6% figure for the average illegal alien population in those five states comes from US Census estimates. We know the real number is double that official estimate. Yet, even if it is 11%, it is still shameful that the percentage of murders by criminal aliens is more than triple the illegal population in those states.
Those astounding numbers were compiled by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) using official Department of Justice data on criminal aliens in the nation’s correctional system. The numbers were the basis for a presentation at a recent New Hampshire conference sponsored by the highly respected Center for Security Policy. You can view the full presentation here:
This has led the Germany’s Federal Criminal Police, BKA, to advise German women on how to best protect themselves against rape.
– If a woman gets an unsafe feeling when she encounters a group of men, or perceives that a situation could pose a risk, she should always trust her intuition and avoid getting into such situations, says Markus Koth, spokesman for BKA, according to shz.de.
Women must continue, if necessary, to be ready “to take detours.” In addition, women should see if there are “any policemen nearby that can be contacted,” according to Koth.
If, despite all precautions, she is attacked by asylum seekers nevertheless, it is very important to be able to protect one selves.
“Here you have to behave so boldly and decisively as possible. But even by shouting loud one could make passersby aware of what is going on,” said the BKA spokesman.
Call the police!
Calls for help should also be clearly directed against a specific person in the environment so that the person knows that he is the one that is being asked for help. In this way one increases the pressure to help. An example would be: “You with the glasses and the blue jacket, call the police!”
If there is no opportunity to call the police in connection with the attack, one should make an emergency call as soon as possible after the rape. There is also a public phone line that women who have been victim of sexual abuse can call for advice.
More tips for women from the BKA:
* Go in groups of at least two or three.
* Wear sneakers instead of high heels so that you can run away.
* Avoid alcohol and drugs.
* Drink only from bottles that you removed the cap from yourself.
* Do not only look at the mobile phone but observe the surroundings.
* In case of an emergency, do not behave as a victim but as an opponent: Attack genitals, joints, eyes, nose and ears, where the sensation of pain is the strongest.
In one medieval village game, peasants with both hands tied behind them competed to kill a cat nailed to a post by battering it to death with their heads, at the risk of their cheeks ripped open or eyes scratched out by the creature’\冱 frantic claws. Trumpets enhanced the excitement.
Or a pig enclosed in a wide pen was chased by men with clubs until, to the laughter of spectators, he ran squealing from the blows until beaten lifeless.
Accustomed in their own lives to physical hardship and injury, medieval men and women were not necessarily repelled by the spectacle of pain, but rather enjoyed it.
The citizens of Mons bought a condemned criminal from a neighboring town so that they should have the pleasure of seeing him quartered.
It may be that the less than tender medieval infancy produced adults who valued others no more than they had been valued in their own formative years.

Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD) is wildly overrepresented in prisons. Take a crowd of 100 people of the street, and chances are just one to three of them will have ASPD. Take 100 people from a prison, and you can expect 40 to 70 of them to have the disorder.
That’s significant, because ASPD has been linked with aggression, irritability, disregard for rules, disregard for other people, and dishonesty.
It’s a controversial diagnosis — broad, ill-defined, and overlapping heavily with other disorders like psychopathy.
But there’s reason to take it seriously. Twin studies suggest that genetics explain about half of the variance in ASPD diagnoses, and environmental factors the other half.
