Hollywood pushing torture

“Before the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the portrayal of torture on network television was a rarity. But the moment piqued interest in Hollywood and led to dozens of television and movie story lines in which American heroes deal with uncooperative antagonists who hold critical information about an imminent attack.

By 2003, the first year of the war in Iraq, there were 228 instances in which torture was portrayed on network TV, according to Human Rights First, a civil liberties group that advocates governments banning torture.

Human Rights First last year launched a campaign to push Hollywood writers and producers away from portrayals of torture as a useful interrogation technique.

The group’s highest-profile target has been the Fox hit “24,” a thriller in which protagonist Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland, used torture—from staging a mock execution of a detainee’s child to shocking a captive—at least 89 times in the show’s first six seasons.

Army officials have met with the show’s writers and producers to express concern that Bauer’s methods are sending the wrong messages to service members.

‘The problem with the ticking time-bomb situation is that it’s not real,’ said David Danzig, the director of Human Rights First’s Primetime Torture project. “The problem with ’24,’ when we’re rooting for Jack Bauer torturing the bad guy or when Hollywood shows waterboarding producing the result of the bad guy giving up good information that saves the day, is that gathering good intelligence doesn’t work that way.” Read more from chicagotribune.com

WTC 7 and the BBC

After years of pretending World Trade Center Seven never existed and never collapsed, the BBC headlines an article 9/11 third tower mystery ‘solved’. As is typical of 9/11 white-washers, they allow some 9/11-truth-seeker ideas:
-the super-efficient removal and melting-down of debris before it could be investigated
-WTC 7’s occupation by several secretive federal agencies
-unprecedented collapse of a steel-framed structure because of fire (which can’t melt steel)
-the sudden, violent, uniform collapse
-WTC 7’s omission from 9/11 Commission Report

The revelation by so-called ‘experts investigating the collapse’ seems to be nothing more than a reassertion of the boilerplate explanation that fire weakened the steel structure and caused the building’s collapse.

As noted on georgewashington.blogspot.com, this explanation is refutable in one sentence:

Partly EVAPORATED Steel Beams Were Found At WTC 7, but normal office and diesel fires are not nearly hot enough to evaporate steel. (See NY Times article)

Nor does the BBC’s sudden acknowledgment of WTC 7’s collapse explain or even acknowledge their reporting of WTC 7’s collapse BEFORE it happened. Let me say that again: They reported the collapse of WTC 7 BEFORE it happened.

The reassertion of fire causing the collapse also contradicts Larry Silverstein’s infamous pull it remark.

So, you see, the big holes in the official story are still agape, despite BBC’s claim that “the definitive official explanation of what happened to Tower Seven is finally about to be published in America.” We will judge its definitiveness ourselves, thank you.

Public Call for Murder of 9/11 Truth Seekers

“Last week, Michael Reagan outrageously called for the murder of 9/11 truth activists and specifically Mark Dice. On Reagan’s nationally syndicated radio show he told more than four million daily listeners, ‘I will pay for the bullets’ to murder truth activists. Later during his rant he said, ‘How about you take Mark Dice out, and put him in the middle of the firing range. Tie him to a post, don’t blindfold him, let it rip and have some fun with Mark Dice.’ After a conciliatory interview with Mark Dice yesterday, Reagan failed to retract his order for listeners to shoot truth activists or Mark Dice.”

Iraqi Drones May Target U.S. Cities

WASHINGTON — Iraq could be planning a chemical or biological attack on American cities through the use of remote-controlled “drone” planes equipped with GPS tracking maps, according to U.S. intelligence.

The information about Iraq’s unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) program has caused a “real concern” among defense personnel, senior U.S. officials tell Fox News. They’re worried that these vehicles have already been, or could be, transported inside the United States to be used in an attack, although there is no proof that this has happened.

Secretary of State Colin Powell showed a picture of a small drone plane during his presentation to the U.N. Security Council earlier this month.

“UAVs outfitted with spray tanks constitute an ideal method for launching a terrorist attack using biological weapons,” Powell said during his speech. “Iraq could use these small UAVs, which have a wingspan of only a few meters, to deliver biological agents to its neighbors or, if transported, to other countries, including the United States.”

Powell said there is “ample evidence” that Iraq has dedicated much time and effort to developing and testing spray devices that could be adapted for UAVs. “And of the little that Saddam Hussein told us about UAVs, he has not told the truth,” Powell said.

What Obama Said

The unfortunate truth is that any and every media-approved politician goes before AIPAC and promises whatever they want. Even Obama, the supposed peace candidate, joins them in their great lies. Iran is NOT a threat to the the United States. Obama also weighed in very inappropriately on the long-standing issue of Jerusalem. I’m no longer sure I can vote for him.

-I’m tired of everyone pretending like this shit isn’t being said. He, like McCain, is pledging another needless war. More and death and destruction, more hatred and lies by our media, more deployments for our military, more coffins, more trillions of dollars borrowed from Asia or printed out of thin air. Enough is enough. The threat of terrorism best met by good police, and good border security, not military occupations of foreign countries, and certainly not by invasions of countries under false pretenses.

-Why does the road to the U.S. Presidency seem to run through Israel? Jerusalem was captured by Israel during the 1967 war. It’s status is a long-standing and very controversial issue between Israel and Palestine. Obama has no business siding so definitively on Israel’s side for political gain.

Hillary Clinton Controversies Ignored by the Media

–Top Clinton adviser, Mickey Kantor, calls Indiana residents “shit” and “white niggers.” (watch video)
–Anne Lewis, another top Clinton adviser, says “The role of the president of the United States is to support the decisions that are made by the people of Israel.”
–Taking sniper fire in Bosnia
–Her talk of Iran’s “total obliteration.”
–Criticising the closure of an Indiana factory that she helped close
–Iraq Lies
–The terrifying number of dead Clinton associates, including White House Aide (some say lover) Vince Foster, and going all the way back to Arkansas
–past association with cocaine smuggler Jorge Cabrera
-and many, many more.

I realize that these issues have not been entirely ignored by the media – the Bosnia stuff, for example, made the news for a few days – but compare it to the rabid coverage of statements made by Obama’s former pastor. If pastors are so important, why don’t they cover the fundamentalist idiocy of McCain’s former pastors?

I’ll answer that: because Obama, despite his genuflecting to the powers that be, is a bigger threat to the establishment than McClinton. Obama hasn’t been around long enough to prove his loyalty, so his scandals are promoted. McClinton’s are buried.

America’s Dying Honey Bees
(and what we hear about them)

It is an understatement to say that across the United States, honeybees are dying. Their population is crashing, 20 – 70% losses. What’s become known as “colony collapse disorder” is a bigger deal that you might think, because honeybees are essential for pollinating crops. Up to a third of our food production relies on honeybees for pollination.

A wide rift has emerged between mainstream media and the alternative press, with the latter focusing on the GM crops as the cause, the former focusing on everything but.

By contrast, globalresearch.ca published this story which examines the possibility of mites, parasites, cell phones, and genetically modified “terminator seeds,” and concludes that the GM crops are killing our honeybees. Here’s another indy press story that acknowledges the possibility of GM crops as the culprit.

For anyone who doubts our “free” press is capable of such overt deception, watch this clip about how Fox “News” buried the Monsanto story and fired the reporters who insisted on accurately reporting proven dangers about genetic engineering in milk production.

NY Times Applauds Fed’s Robbery of American Public

The NY Times enthusiastically applauds the Dow’s recent rally.

Jim Rogers, respected CEO of Roger’s holdings, comments why the Fed’s artificially-created market rally is good for bankers, but BAD FOR AMERICANS. “It’s certainly good for me. It’s not good for the world, but it’s good for me, and I don’t approve at all.”

“Why is it the end of the world if an investment bank goes bankrupt? Where is it in the federal reserve’s mandate to bail out xyz investment bank. . . If you bail out every investment bank that gets into trouble, that’s not capitalism, it’s socialism for the rich, and why should 300 million Americans suffer so we can bail out two or three investment banks?”

Asked what he would do if he had Fed Chairman Bernanke’s job, he said: “Step one is abolish the Federal Reserve and step two is resign. . . . no country in the world has ever succeeded by debasing its currency.”

The Media and JFK

(Read Alex Jones’ Article about what Big Media does and does not report.)

My Summary:

AP Reports on the discovery of additional evidence, and quotes a 6th floor museum curator to cast doubt on it.

Big Media does NOT report this death bed confession of a former CIA agent.

Nor are they interested in Barr McClellan’s book which implicates LBJ.

The last time Big Media showed an interest was when They (including the Washington Post’s national security correspondent George Larder) were falling over each other to slander, discourage and discredit Oliver Stone’s JFK. Read the section on media reaction.

Remember my earlier post – an open letter by Norman Mailer, Oliver Stone, and others:

“It is disappointing to learn that the Central Intelligence Agency filed motions in federal court in May 2005 to block disclosure of records related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy forty-one years ago. The spirit of the law is clear. Why didn’t the media covering this important development?
