They have long stood out from other Republicans and members of Conservatism Inc. by virtue of the intensity of their loathing for the white South, springing from the ethnically parochial culture in which they grew up.

None of this need surprise us. The persistent neoconservative prejudice against the South sprang from the ethnically parochial culture in which the older generation of neoconservatives grew up. In my youth, I was struck by the malice with which New York Jewish visitors to Florida described their road trips through the land of “rural bigots.” Next to the Germans, whom they assured me—the child of Austrian Jewish immigrants—were all Nazis, these Southern “anti-Semites” were the most unpalatable humans they were forced to share the planet with.

Neoconservative beneficiary National Review Editor Rich Lowry referred in a recent column to “institutionally racist backwater” that was the white South before both government reconstruction efforts and the influx of Northern suburbanites redeemed it. That is a polite way of expressing the anti-Southern bigotry that I heard from New York Jews in the 1950s, before the South ceased to be the South.

Handful of holdout tribes dig in against gay marriage

Blacks and Muslims are definitely higher on the totem pole than gays, but I’m not sure about Native Americans.

“Tribal laws of the two largest Native American tribes in the United States prohibit gay marriage, as do the laws of nine other smaller tribes.

“The Navajo and Cherokee Nations, the first and second largest tribes respectively, together have about 600,000 members. The nine smaller tribes that ban gay marriage have another 350,000 members. These tribes all either define marriage as between a man and a woman or explicitly prohibit same-sex marriage, according to the Associated Press (AP).

“Since 2011, six of the eleven tribes revisited and upheld their preexisting legal definitions of marriage as between a man and a woman, AP researchers found.”

Curt: Islamic Law

the problem is that in practice it very much matters that Jewish and Islamic law is so substantially different from Western common and continental law. Particularly in that western law is universal and inclusive, Jewish Law is dual-ethical and arguably unethical, and Islamic law is intolerant and hostile. And both Jewish and Islamic law are separatist for the purpose of prohibiting integration.

It simply is not true that Catholic entry into America was not disastrous for the constitution or that Jewish immigration was even more so.

Aristocracy (those of us who are educated and debate the empirical consequences of these matters) are relatively irrelevant because we are not dependent upon our tribes for information. But the middle and lower classes are inversely dependent on norms and traditions and related status signals as well as peer opinion in order to act.

As such it is our lower and middle classes that demonstrate our cultural differences, and the opportunity middle and upper who parley those biases by way of votes under democracy into political power that exacerbates our differences.

Internet the monarchies we had diversity and lots of it because political power was denied as a means of status competition. And only market competition provided a means of signalling.

This is one of the most important readons why democracy has been a catastrophe for western man.

Fifteen Chinese nationals have been accused of cheating the college entrance examination system with a scheme that involved fake passports and test-taking impostors, according to a federal indictment unsealed on Thursday.

The 35-count indictment, which was returned on May 21 in the Western District of Pennsylvania, sketches out a complex scheme in which certain individuals are accused of paying impostors using fake Chinese passports to take college entrance exams, mostly at testing sites in the Pittsburgh area, including the SAT and the Test of English as a Foreign Language, or Toefl, in the hope of using them to gain admission to American colleges. . . . .

This is undoubtedly the fault of white people, probably for not being able to tell Chinese people apart.
