The Democrats

This blog post is dedicated to my self-described liberal friends who squarely blame the evil Republicans for all this country’s woes. YOU know who you are! All excerpts are from “The Senate Caves,” by Tim Dickinson, RollingStone June 12, 2008.

“Since regaining the majority in 2006, the Democrats have granted the Bush administration and big telephone companies immunity for illegal wiretapping, declared a branch of the Iranian military a terrorist organization and stuffed the recent Foreclosure Prevention Act with far more goodies for big lenders than for struggling homeowner. They also confirmed Attorney General Michael Mukasey despite his refusal to disavow torture – a move engineered by Schumer.”

Chuck Schumer (D – NY)
“Every democrat in the Senate likes to imagine himself as a friend of the middle class. But few take the delusion to the extremes of Chuck Schumer. In his book Positively American, the senator from New York writes in eerie detail of his decades-long, entirely imaginary friendship with Joe and Eileen Bailey, a non existent middle-class couple from Long Island who struggle to get by on $75,000 a year. . . But Schumer’s love of his made-up friends in the middle class didn’t stop him from championing one of the biggest tax breaks for billionaires in the history of the republic. Last year, Democrats in the House fought to close a loophole that levies a tax rate of only 15 percent – barely half what real-life versions of the Baileys pay – on hedge-fund managers who make as much as $3.7 billion a year. But when the debate reached the Senate, Schumer broke with his fellow Democrats and sided with Wall Street – inspiring the hedge-fund industry to hail him as its ‘guardian.'”

Harry Reid (D – NV)
“In a recent interview with Reid in his opulently chandeliered suite in the Capitol, I ask why the Democrats had not used their majority in the Senate to close the hedge-fund loophole. He greets the question with dead silence. When he finally speaks, he tells me something I never thought I would hear from a Democrat: that it would be wrong to single out the nation’s wealthiest investors simply because they are bilking the treasury out of billions. ‘The only difference between hedge fund operators and other folks similarly situated,’ Reid argues, ‘is that they make more money.’ . . . What Reid also failed to mention is that the real difference between hedge-fund billionaires and others ‘so situated’ is that they are the ones underwriting efforts by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee run by Schumer. . . . All told, the hedge-fund and private-equity sectors have showered the Democrats with more than $14 million this year – double what they have given Republicans.”

Nancy Pelosi (D – CA)
As speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi can bend Democrats to her will – including the likes of Rep. John Dingell, the lifelong champion of automakers whom Pelosi has muzzled in the debate over global warming. She has even been able to bring conservative “blue dog” Democrats to heel, repeatedly garnering their support for a timeline for withdrawal from Iraq.”

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: It’s not right vs. left, it’s power vs. liberty. Right vs. left is an illusion and distraction from what’s most important.

  1. Good for you. Thank you for putting all of this information on here. I am a life long democrat but I despise the liberals who run the party with their money. They hi jacked the party and have driven millions out of it with their hatred of our culture, religion and heritage.

You forgot to mention how Bush has taunted the Democrats and dared them to bring the troops home when they were making public demands. Bush knew they would do no such thing.

In the last presidential election the moneybags in the party gave Al Gore the boot and forced John Kerry off on us. Whether a Liberal or a Neocon got into the White House our middle east policies would be the same. Democrats didn’t care how many of us had marched in the streets against Bush’s neocon crimes.

Now the candidates are paraded thru a farce of having to give their Christian testimony – just as Bush proclaimed to know Jesus halaluya. Then when they get into office they will do just like Bush did and let the jews pull the strings because it is they who contribute the most to campaigns. What a joke.

Both Barack and McCain will bomb Iran as soon as they get the chance. How many 500 pound bombs have we dropped on pregnant women in Iraq. Somebody should ask the Christians that.

  2. Thanks for the comment, July. I share many of your views. I think it’s important to criticize Israel andn Israel’s imposing lobby and feel determined to defy the taboo against doing so, but I disagree with stretching into racial statements about “the Jews.” It’s offensive and simply inaccurate. It’s true that AIPAC pulls many strings in Washington, and does so very effectively, but AIPAC does not represent the views of the people in whose name it exerts its impressive influence -certainly not the views of my Jewish friends. The distinction is important.

  3. But I also used the term “the Christians” in my post. Does that not bother you?

I don’t mean to be rude but it gets a little tiresome to always have to be playing political correctness in your own country. What difference does it make if I say “the Jews”. I mean really what difference does it make. Tell me what bad thing will happen because I said “the Jews”. Tell me.

How is it any different than saying “the Christians” or “the Muslims”. Just the fact that you can’t have free speech without restrictions shows how much power Jews have in America.

The people of the United States have never done anything to Jews. Our Christian Fathers and Grandfathers saved them from the Nazis and we have created a place where they could be safe and become the richest segment of the population and have enormous power and influence in our government and media so why do we have to prove anything.

We’ve not done anything to them and I fail to see why we should be treated like Nazis. If you want to pretend that talking about “the Jews” means that at any moment a holocaust against them will break out that is your business but its way too silly for myself. After all it is the enemies of “the Jews” who have been rounded up and locked away at Gitmo without due process and tortured. How many of your Jewish friends took to the streets and wailed “its happening again”. they should have because it is Jewish neocons in Bush’s inner circle who did this.

I should think that if I were Jewish I would be alarmed because after all wasn’t it Jews in Stalin’s inner circle who committed a bigger holocaust in Russia then Hitler committed in Germany? Surely the Jews wouldn’t want such a thing to happen to the United States government would they? I know I wouldn’t. Perhaps thats why I’m a little pissed. Forgive me for wanting to get justice in spite of the fact that they’re jews which supposedly is supposed to get them a free pass to do anything they please.

Consider what I said, “the jews contribute the most to the campaigns”. Did I say the jews are evil devils, did I say the jews are the enemies of America or anything else that could be considered to be something bad.

What if I said “the Christians are the ones who contribute the most money to the Democratic candidates’ campaigns”? Would that scare you? The Christians are the main base of the republican party. Am I evil for saying that?

Tell your Jewish friends that I said hello but that is as far as I will go. If they expect me to kiss their ring they can kiss my ass.

  4. You sound like you’re really tired to getting told what you can and cannot say.

Thanks for the post. Let me think about it.

btw, I’m familiar with Soviet crimes — obsessed with them in fact, as my roots go back to Ukraine.
