  1. What this site fails to appreciate is Hagel’s overall
poor performance. It was not at level of competance
one would like at that level of government. It was
more like someone who just graduated from college
and had never interviewed before. It had nothing to
do with his claim of being ‘Conservative’. In fact he
was not Conservative in comments made rather he
    was off the wall.

The only reason for this forums support of him was
    anti-war and anti establishment.

His anti war record has weak Conservative credentials
and his opinions offer little fact or data to support his
    stances.

My observation was that he was not Conservative, Neo-
Conservative nor Competant. It is one thing to be anti-
war, but there is good reason to be competant on how
    that is achieved.

    Competance, Competance, above all Competance.

  2. Despite his bad performance, I think it’s important to remind readers of what politicians face when they fail to be sufficiently pro-war and pro-Israel.

Interestingly, aside from my own letters to newspapers, my very first post on this blog was a debate between Chuck Hagel, and chicken hawk Joe Liberman: www.lostrepublic.com/archives/18

  3. In your referenced interviews, Hagel
sounded good. However to many people
    so does Obama.

That is a cornerstone issue with politicians.
Sounding good and not fully understanding
and appreciating what their words and
    actions yield.

    Sometimes they believe they know
better than the guy on street. That
false assumption results in the ‘Law
    of Unintended Consequences’. Often,
    it allows creeping socialism.

It can also yield intended results such
    as Marxism under various nomenclatures
    and totalitarianism. This was demonstrated
under Hitler, Mussolini and others. They
    were good speakers.

The position of against war needs to be
supported with good reason and accurate
    information, not just sound bites.

Based on your background you should
    be providing that, yes?

What was that old recruiting slogan? ‘Be all
    that you can be…’
