Retiring Rep. Ron Paul Becomes First Republican To Rip NRA’s Plan for Armed Guards at Schools, Saying That It Would Create ‘Orwellian Surveillance State’

open quoteOutgoing Republican Senator Ron Paul from Texas took on the National Rifle Association this week, arguing that the gun lobby’s recent proposal to place armed guards at every U.S. school is ‘just another kind of violence.’

In a statement released on Monday, the uncompromising libertarian lawmaker said that the federal government should not try to ‘pursue unobtainable safety’ and claimed that Democrats and Republicans have ‘zero moral authority to legislate against violence.’

‘This is the world of government provided “security,” a world far too many Americans now seem to accept or even endorse,’ the 77-year-old congressman wrote on his website. ‘School shootings, no matter how horrific, do not justify creating an Orwellian surveillance state in America.’close quote (Read more)

Another Mass Shooting Prevented by a Gun Owner

open quoteOn Sunday December 17, 2012, 2 days after the CT shooting, a man went to a restaurant in San Antonio to kill his X-girlfriend. After he shot her, most of the people in the restaurant fled next door to a theater. The gunman followed them and entered the theater so he could shoot more people. He started shooting and people in the theater started running and screaming. It’s like the Aurora, CO theater story plus a restaurant!

Now aren’t you wondering why this isn’t a lead story in the national media along with the school shooting?

There was an off duty county deputy at the theater. SHE pulled out her gun and shot the man 4 times before he had a chance to kill anyone. close quote (Read more)

12-Year-Old Girl Shoots Intruder During Home Invasion In Bryan County

open quote 12-year-old girl took matters into her own hands during a home invasion in southeast Oklahoma.

It happened on Wednesday when the girl was home alone. She told police a stranger rang the doorbell, then went around to the back door and kicked it in. She called her mom, Debra St. Clair, who told her to get the family gun, hide in a closet and call 911.

That was when St. Clair dropped what she was doing and raced home.

“I drove home at a really fast pace to try to get to her, and when I got here the police were already here. And they had the suspect,” she said.

During that time, the intruder made his way through the house. St. Clair’s daughter told deputies the man came into the room where she was hiding and began to open up the closet door. That was when the 12 year old had to make a life-saving decision.

“And what we understand right now, he was turning the doorknob when she fired through the door,” said the Bryan County Undersheriff Ken Golden.close quote (Read more)
