  1. One think this chart fails to show is that “States move to ‘Shall issue’ CCP’s coincides with the signing of the Brady Bill, which mandated background checks for firearm purchases.

  2. there was no gun control acts prior to 1934 when the 1st gun control law in the us came into effect (see what happens on the graph) however abolition of prohibition probably had more of an effect on gun crime compared to the gun control law as in most countries where guns are controlled there is normally and increase in gun crime for a short period after the law comes into effect as people who commit crime tend to keep hold of things that make it easier for them irrelevant of the law
